A car drives into a crowd at a Filipino street festival… The death toll rises to 11.

The suspect who drove a black Audi SUV into a crowd at the Filipino “Lapu Lapu” festival has been identified as a 30-year-old Vancouver man.

At least 11 people were killed and many more injured after a man drove a car into a crowd at a Filipino Lapu Lapu Day street festival in Vancouver, Canada, on Saturday.

The Vancouver Police Department says the incident happened shortly after 8 p.m. near East 43rd Avenue and Fraser Street. The suspect, who was arrested by police, has apologized to everyone.

The festival is named Lapu Lapu in memory of a native Filipino warrior who fought against Spanish colonization in the 16th century.
