Canada Federal Election – 2025

The Liberal Party is leading with 168 seats in a crucial election held yesterday (28) to choose a ruling party for the next 5 years. Accordingly, Mark Carney will be sworn in as the new Prime Minister.

It is notable that the main opposition Conservative Party has shown progress by winning more seats than last time.

However, Canada’s opposition leader Pierre Poiliver failed to win his parliamentary seat, which could put his party leadership in question.

Carney, 60, who served as head of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, rose to the top of Canadian politics after the resignation of former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
